about
Caught In The Wake Forever is the solo venture of Fraser McGowan, a musician based in Paisley, Scotland.
All the Hurt that Hinders Home is his debut EP.
Having released two albums with his band Small Town Boredom, McGowan decided, in 2009, that the time had come to experiment with his love for ambient music. A number of new tracks were written, recorded and posted on myspace. Soon a number of labels were knocking on his door to work with him and an agreement was put in place with mini50 records to release his work.
These new tunes blend an electronic approach with his already established lo-fi acoustic aesthetics. They are characterised mainly by the use of rhodes piano & classical guitar, surrounded by the subtle warmth of electronics, string machines & dictaphone field recordings.
The EP is available on limited edition cd as well as digital download and features remixes of the 5 tracks by Library Tapes, Fieldhead, Sketches for Albinos, Yellow6 and Jonnie Common.
All the Hurt that Hinders Home is reminiscent of the work of Helios but retains a strong sense identity and place. This record should firmly establish McGowan as one to watch in the future.
THE PRESS SAY:
"Caught In The Wake Forever, through five songs, has created an experience that brings nostalgia to life – it reminisces fondly, mourns and ultimately resolves with the sense that something is finished, but nothing has ended, which is, quite simply, just a beautiful thing to hear." - (Sic) Magazine
"...this five track release is like a slow-drip – administering nostalgia and atmosphere in equal doses. Take the excellent ‘Fragments Turn To Dust’, cold keys solemnly play the chords, a lo fi, crackling acoustic picks slowly and the drums scuffle forward with the wavering strings." Bowlegs Music
